Essential Oils

What are essential oils?

Extracted through careful steam distillation, resin tapping, and cold pressing, the purest essential oils are far more powerful than the plants from which they come. Lemon Essential Oil from Young Living, is simply that, cold pressed Lemon. Rosemary is purely steam distilled Rosemary leaves. What you read on the bottle is what you get and it is pure goodness.

How they work

There are many ways to benefit from essential oils and the most common ways are to diffuse them and benefit through smelling them, applying them to your skin topically, and internal consumption. Essential oils affect us physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

They can be used in your home, for wellness, for beauty, and for balance. You can add them to soothing baths, to your meals, or diffuse them throughout the day. Weight management and supplement support are other ways that products with whole food-based nutrients, powerful antioxidants, and pure essential oils can create balance in our bodies.

Did you know that the pure constituents in these oils stimulate olfactory receptors and activate regions in the brain’s limbic system associated with memory, emotion, and state of mind? It is amazing how essential oils affect every system in our body.

Quality, Carrier Oils, & Safety

Quality matters! We have talked about Seed to Seal and Young Livings 3 pillars in detail here. And we just want to say it again! Not all oils are created equal so anything we say on this website is only to be used with Young Living, because we know and trust them!

A carrier oil is a vegetable oil—such as coconut oil, olive oil, or grapeseed oil—that can be used to dilute essential oils. Young Living's V-6 carrier oil is a great way to go. This is what I use in roller bottle recipes and I also use organic coconut oil if I need to dilute an oil straight on my body.

For essential oil safety go here. They cover all the things from "hot oils" to using oils on children safely, and how exposure to sun can affect essential oil usage. Good stuff here! Trust your gut and ask questions!

My top oils

In my diaper bag/purse I always have the 11 essential oils from the Premium Starter Kit, along with Joy, Valor, Purification, Orange, and Deep Relief. Those are the ones I never want to be caught without. When I travel I bring the ones listed above, all the oils in my daily routine (which you can signing up for here).

Honestly I am a giant walking advertisement when I travel because all of my personal care products, hand purifiers, and even my wipes are essential oil infused products from Young Living. I trust the products they make wholeheartedly on myself, my kiddo, and even other peoples pets! Mainly because I don't have one of my own. Some day! Maybe.

I love peppermint oil! The reason this is one of my favorite oils is there are so many different uses for it and it can be used with so many other oils as well. When I’m having a tough day at work and my head starts to give me trouble I like to rub peppermint oil on my temples to help get me through the rest of my day. I like to put a few drops of oil on my tongue to help support my stomach and digestive system when it’s giving me problems. Peppermint oil is also in my favorite oil blend that made me a true believer. My peppermint oil goes everywhere with me!
